This is the second part of the painting. See the first part here – Painting “Don Quixote” – Part 1
After another 3 hours with the model, I finished rendering the face. I’m almost satisfied with where the painting is at this stage. There are a lot of things about it that I like, but I’ll probably work on the face some more in the studio to refine some of the shapes. I feel like some areas look sloppy and could be designed better.
This was the last week with the model, so I will have to finish the rest of the painting in the studio from a photo. Go to Part 3.
It may be distortion from the photograph of the painting, but is his left eye bigger than his right?
Jason, I think you’re right… Those eyes have been bugging me from the layin stage. I asked Meadow about it and she said she noticed from her photo reference that his eyes are a bit uneven. That’s no excuse though. As the artist it’s my responsibility to make the painting look good.
Thanks for pointing it out!
I know this series of pictures is very old, but I was wondering if I had permission to use this painting on a tshirt. I would give full credit to the artist, of course!
Yes, you can use it on a t-shirt as long as the shirt is not for sale.
